SciFi, when they moved me up from Full Liquid Diet (when they were sending me home due to finally having a "movement") they put me on a Low Fiber Diet. I've since been allowed a "regular" diet but no discussion or advice about
a High Fiber Diet.
My obstruction occurred not because of disease activity but due to a high grade partial obstruction of scar tissue at my old anastomosis (resection site). We've known about this obstruction for years and I've eaten accordingly (for the most part). I've had two rectal fecal impactions and now this obstruction (in the mid-ileum) in the last 9 months and am thinking I am now REALLY on "borrowed time" before the inevitable occurs. "They've" been recommending surgery since 1999 but as long as there's been no disease activity I've been pushing my luck.
I've gotten complacent and confident that my lungs would "get me" before I would need surgery for this obstruction .... now??? I may need to adjust my thinking. *sigh* I"m sure the wisest decision is to resect that obstruction but .... surgery isn't something I"m inclined to volunteer for. Even when I know it is the wisest option.
My computer says I need to upgrade my brain to be compatible with its new software.
