Are you on any meds now? Are you having any symptoms from the stricture? To be honest, I'm not quite sure why your doctor wants to put you on a stronger med, when you have improved rather than got worse. It's probably to try to get rid of the remaining stricture, but if you've lived with it for six years already and it's not bothering you...
Anyways, if I had to pick one, I would pick Imuran, I think. It's far easier to take, its long-term safety record is well-established, there's no risk of building up antibodies to it and it stopping working, it's well-tolerated by the vast majority. (You can take something called a TPMT test to determine if you are at risk of developing side-effects from Imuran or 6MP.)
Sorry about the exquisitely painful gastroscopy and colonoscopy :-/ If that should happen again, ask for more sedative!
