I started Remicade when in the hospital on 2/23/13. Once out of the hospital I seemed to be doing pretty well. Stools were formed and no blood. It was that way until 3 days after my second injection on 3/11/13. Then the blood came back and soon my stool were no longer formed. My next injection is on 4/5/13 and I am hoping that it will start working. I was on prednisone up until 3/16 so I think that was what was helping me. I was on that so long before when I first tapered off of it, I lost 2/3 of my hair. So now my hair is super thin and ugly. Maybe my body needs to get used to creating it's own prednisone again (it creates 5mg of it's own each day until you are put on the drug for long periods of time, like 7 months like I was).
I hope that Remicade will work for me. I am having joint pain in my knees but think that has to with getting off the prednisone as last time I got off I had the same thing. I don't think I am getting acute joint damage... yet anyways.
How long did Remicade take to start working for you? Should I ask my doctor to up the dosage to double or get it highered? I want to start trying for a baby soon but can't until I get this under control. I hear it is pretty safe for the most part to be on it while pregnant. Safer than getting a flare anyways. Please shed some light.
