I went to a friend's last night whose aunt was showing us how to make our own baby products, like wipes, etc. She uses Essential Oils when she makes them. Out of curiosity, I asked her if they have any to be used for CD. She looked them up for me and found that they did. It made me wonder if anyone has tried using them? Not as a cure, and not necessarily as treatment on its own, but to help get to/stay in remission?

I have a friend on facebook that promotes essential oils for every thing and often thought the same.

I read om pinterest that lemon grass is good for inflammation pain...

would be interesting to hear if anyone's tried it.

I've started dabbling in using essential oils a bit in personal care products (see this bath fizzy recipe, for instance essentialoilblogging.com/2013/03/15/bath-fizzies/). Mostly lavender for stress, and tea tree oil to help with skin stuff (I break out in hives from stress, and get weird "dragon scales", for lack of a better term).

I think this is a decent introduction to essential oils, in general: www.crunchybetty.com/21-things-you-should-know-about-essential-oils.

Lemongrass as a plant is wonderful for inflammation (good at bringing down fevers also) , so I'm sure the essential oil would have some benefits. (Earthfare makes a lemongrass ginger tea that I pretty much live on during flareups). FWIW, lemongrass, lavender and vanilla essential oils smell amazing mixed together.

I'm definitely a fan of being able to avoid nasty chemicals in artificial fragrances and still be able to smell nice, so essential oils are a good fit aesthetically....still not sure how they fit into disease management, but there's a place, I'm sure. (And avoiding nasty chemicals is definitely part of that)
