So i had surgery 8 days ago. They took out about 10 inches of my small intestine near the end, fixed my bladder because I had a fistula, drained and abcess or 2, and took out my apendix.
I have a scar from the bottom of my belly button to close to my bladder.

I just want to share with you how I am feeling and if it is normal or not. I'm still pretty sore around the incision, which I know is normal, but my insides do not feel quite normal yet, and here is what I am wondering. Do your insides feel pretty normal a few days after you get it? I'm not in bad pain or anything but I can just sort of feel the food shifting around inside of me, and when I lay down for a while and get back up I can feel everything starting to move again kind of, if you know what I mean, I also get a little sorenesss on the inside sometimes, not bad just a little. Is this normal? Is it because my intestines are still kind of waking up even after 8 days and still are healing and won't function quite as good for a while? I know people say the recovery time is about a month, but I don't know if they are just talking about incisional pain and energy levels.
My appetite is also still not the greatest, but not bad. I am also pooping 2-3 times a day pretty loosely but the surgeon said that should normalize pretty quick.
Anyway, just wanted to hear an opinion because I'm not really sure how I should be feeling.
thanks

Cannon11,
I have about a week on you, 5/22, 40 CM (16 inches) What you are experiencing sounds about right.
I saw surgeon this past Monday, Wednesday started to feel funny and painful. Am back to percocet.
got to have a fever at night as I get soaked and incredible pain. one more night of this and I calling the man.
incision is still tender ( Normal ). The waking part should fade. My system is nowhere settled down yet but was told that was OK.

Bottom line you sound like your normal. Remember no uncooked veggies until you surgeon says OK. Fevers are bad, vomiting is also bad.

Best of luck,

T
