Wow it has been awhile since I've been here. I was researching a product called Lunasin I recently heard of and figured I would do a quick site search to see if it had been discussed here yet. (It hadn't been.) I ended up reading the first 5 or so pages of posts and realized a real old one had been dredged up that I posted on! I guess it is true, nothing on the internet ever really goes away!
I hope all my old friends are well and that all the newcomers are getting the great advice and care I found here when I needed it.
I'm still in remission. Gluten free and near dairy free absolutely changed my life. I by no means think it is the "cure" for all Crohns. My doc thinks I was gluten intolerant too.
Funny story - I'm part of an online group of professional women and occasionally someone mentions Crohns or UC. We have formed a sub-group of us that emails off-site since I'm guessing the rest of the professional world doesn't need to hear our woes. I also send them here.
Another random revelation I had. I learned I'm allergic to avocados! A few times in my life (like most of us) I've been sick enough to need the hospital for IV hydration/anti-nausea shot. I finally realized that every time that happened, I had consumed avocado in the last 24 hours. I always blamed the food instead - bad mexican, bad sushi, bad sandwich meat, or the crohns, not the avocado. I had a few sips of a protein shake with avocado and immediately felt sick. That is when I finally put it all together. It was the darn avocados!
Regarding the Lunasin I mentioned, someone I know professionally sells a Lunasin capsule that supposedly has amazing anti-inflammatory properties. Since I have a few inflammatory conditions I'm thinking of trying it. There seems to be clinical research to support it but I don't know if any of the clinical research is crohns or colitis specific. If anyone has taken the product I'd love to hear if it helped, hurt or did nothing.
Thanks for reading my post! I wish I had time to come here more often.
