Wondered if any of you have had a similar situation. I recently went to a new gi dr (because I couldn't get in to see my regular dr and was suffering with rectal pain) and overall liked him, however, I do not like the idea of the prep he uses for colonoscopy (moviprep). I have anxiety issues esp related to procedures and so would like to make the situation as palatable as possible. The dr I usually go to prescribes Miralax and when I had used this I handled the whole thing pretty well. My issue with this dr is that he always seems to be away on vacation and I have to wait weeks to see him. This other/new dr took me in right away.
So, here is the basic situation...I would like to get the colonoscopy done by one dr and be under the care of another. Does anyone think this is even possible? How would I go about handling discussing this without losing both of them? I have tried to discuss my concerns over the prep and he didn't seem to want to budge. to him the Miralax wasn't as reliable. I thought of just going against what he says and using the miralax anyway but if something should go wrong in using it I didn't know if this is such a wise move. And it may seem like a trivial issue in using this or that prep but I have had issues with other preps and Miralax was the one thing (though I admit only used it once) worked well for me without becoming dehydrated or feeling downright horrible. As an aside I had been ok with my regular gi dr other than it always seeming to take weeks to see him for appts.
One side question, this new dr only has afternoon apts for colonoscopies right now until November. I would think having to down more prep the morning of would be a little chancy (in making sure I am done clearing out before apt). Anyone have thoughts on morning vs afternoon colonoscopies?
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!!
