It's good that you are having the colonoscopy. In addition to the colonoscopy, I hope your doc does a small bowel follow through test, as the colonoscopy cannot visualize your small intestine. It's hard to tell what is going on without proper tests. I suffered from constipation my whole life and didn't get a Crohn's diagnosis until my 40's. IBS with constipation can be very painful...you may not have Crohn's at all. In the meantime, I suggest that you start adding fiber pills such as Metamucil or Citrucel. Start with about two pills at bedtime and slowly increase them. They can make you feel gassy and bloated at first until your body adjusts, but if it is IBS, it should really help. Also, significantly increase exercise and drink tons of water. If you don't end out having Crohn's, there are prescription medications you can take for severe constipation too. Don't lose hope...you will figure this out!
