I saw your replies on the Ostomy forum. I was thinking of suggesting waiting to see if the diarrhoea improved, but it seems like your biggest problem at the moment is the fistula. I'm inclined to agree with your assessment of it, but it's still probably worth making another thread about
it on this forum: quite a few do have fistulas and perhaps they might be able to help.
The trouble with research is, I have tried. There is very little info out there on Crohn's and ileorectal anastomosis (IRA). I've seen enough to be satisfied that the outcomes are okay for a healthy person, eg somebody who doesn't
have active Crohn's disease. But it's almost impossible to find anybody on the internet with Crohn's and an IRA. The rare person who asks about
it usually goes unanswered, like this one: www.crohnsforum.com/showthread.php?t=57357
To find any info at all, I have had to resort to looking at the few small (mostly old) studies I can find. If that sort of thing is your cup of tea, pretty much google has them all here: tinyurl.com/oweo482
The outcomes don't seem great, although there is always the possibility of Crohn's returning no matter what operation you have.
*sigh* Well anyway, I hope you get your reversal of the reversal soon, LakelandMan :-/
