So, after a pretty long absence here after my surgery in 11/10, I think the colitis I had is coming back. I had a positive ASCA antibody test which often points to crohn's disease but my biopsies and post surgery speciments said it was another type of inflammatory disease called diverticular colitis. I've had a lot of other symptoms that crohn's patients get like inflammatory arthritis. I also have other auto immune diseases. The diverticular colitis is quite rare and they felt post surgery I did not need any meds, that I was CURED. LOL.... But, for 3 years post surgery, everything was just perfect. Now, I am having similar symptoms to before although not quite as bad or painful. I think it's just starting up and I want it taken care of before it gets too bad.
So question #1 is has anyone had much relief post surgery off meds?
Does your inflammation ever cause IBS symtpoms as well?
Do many of you have other auto immune diseases that have crohn's?
Do many get tested for the ASCA antibodies?
regardless, I just dread having to go back to the GI doc. I have moved and will have to get a new one. My husband has used a good one here, thank goodness.
So, I'm back and I just hope it's not permanent. No offense, the people on here are great and saved my sanity in 2009 and 2010.
