I've been on 9mg daily of entocort for six weeks...diagnosed with Lymphocytic Colitis. I take the entocort in the morning, a Cholestid at lunch and another Colestid at bedtime. Other than reducbg my cramping, the entocort has not touched my diarrhea. Still going 6-10 times daily. Have taken Imodium last two days as well and that's not worked either.
1. Anyone been on Entocort this long without it working?
2. I'm almost thinking I have some absorption problems since even the immodiums area by working either...any thoughts???
I'm leaving in 48 hours traveling with my job and I need some fast relief from the diarrhea for traveling.
Sorry to hear it's not working for you. My mother is on it right now for lymphocytic colitis, and it has helped her a lot. Her diarrhea stopped within a few days of starting entocort.
Entocort is considered a good treatment for lymphocytic colitis, but unfortunately it doesn't help everyone. Do you know where your lymphocytic colitis is located? Is it primarily on the right side of the colon? Or throughout the colon? If it's throughout the colon, you might try Uceris instead of entocort (same steroid ingredient, but formulated different so it covers the whole colon and not just the right side).
Some people have been helped by taking bi****h (pepto bismol) every day. You can ask your doctor about
that. If that doesn't help, some people with LC end up going on 6mp or imuran to treat their LC.
Good luck. In the short term, try pepto or any other over-the-counter anti-diarrheal for your business trip. Then get back to your doctor and tell him/her the entocort isn't working.
