David Wilson, You may get temporary relief by taking probiotic supplement, but that's not a permanent solution. Bifido- and Lactobacillus bacteria feed on Candida Albicans (yeast) and other harmful bacteria thus providing temporary relief. But, the harmful bacteria grow back again and cause gastro-intestinal problems. The only solution would be to reflourish gut microbiome (increase the number of friendly bacteria that help the immune system with certain functions) by providing them PREBIOTIC
I was on the specific carbohydrate diet (SCD) for a year. Before that I was bleeding twice a week to death! My stools were completely black and foul. The medicines I was taking did nothing to control the bleeding and I was able to eat what a toddler could! During a year on SCD, I could recover from many food sensitivities. Now I eat normal foods - wheat, rye bread, whole-grain oatmeal, whole-grain rice, eggs, raw mushrooms, raw bell pepper, raw vegetables and fruits. I eat grapes and a raw apple everyday. I drink luke warm lemon water in the morning on an empty stomach every day. I drink 5 times strong coffee in a day (I had GERD and gastritis earlier. I would get terrible stomach ache and vomiting for coffee) and sometimes 2 bottles of beer in no time. There is nothing that I avoid.
SCD is somewhat non-scientific. It's rather a restrictive diet / symptom avoidance diet than a healing one. Don't trust the Author Elaine Gottschall! The book is overpriced with lot of research articles copied and printed in the book with less scientific evidence and explanation.
I can recommend you a low carbohydrate diet and a lot of anti-bacterial foods, supplements etc. You need to do a lot of research. One also needs to understand how our health care system works. You need to get information on BigPharma - How much profit does it make, how it controls the information on the internet, what research it has faked, how its Agents murder alternate medicine doctors, vaccines - MMR etc., flase flag disease outbreaks - Ebola, Measles etc. All the best.
