I can't access the article without a subscription. Would you like to summarize what it said?

From NEJM:
"Clinicians should overcome obstacles to recommending low-residue diets. Douglas K. Rex, MD

Clear liquids are still commonly used the day before colonoscopy, but in multiple randomized, controlled trials, patients allowed to eat a low-residue or fiber-free diet for one or more meals on the day prior to colonoscopy tolerated bowel preparation better than those on clear liquids and had comparable or better cleansing.
In a meta-analysis of nine studies with 1686 patients, a low-residue diet resulted in significantly better tolerability (odds ratio, 1.92) and willingness to repeat bowel preparation (OR, 1.86). The increased odds of an adequate bowel preparation (OR, 1.21) did not reach statistical significance, nor did the risk for adverse effects (OR, 0.88). - See more at: http://www.jwatch.org/na39449/2015/10/28/meta-analysis-favors-low-residue-vs-clear-liquid-diet#sthash.iKpdPRTy.dpuf"

That'd be awesome if word spread about this! Docs would really have to explain to patients what kind of diet this make up. But to be able to eat solid food would be pretty cool, wouldn't it?

Doesn't work for me! I never ate any fiberous foods before prepping for a C-scope, I ate soft and easy to digest foods and still had horrible cramping and spent much longer running to the toilet and in much more pain compared to simply doing liquids for 2 days before prepping....and major butt burn as well.

They can do all the studies they want and I'll never change the way I prepare for my C-scopes again....no way will I ever eat solid foods again before prepping.

My GI has always had me go on low residue diet a week before the procedure and liquid diet 24 hours ahead of it. I've never had a problem and the prep the day before is a lot easier.
