Hi Vince and welcome to HW. For 9 years, I have heard all the names of diagnoses you could think of. Asymptomatic was one of them though I did have nonstop diarrhea and severe abdominal pain.
I developed this year a perianal fistula and have just had my first Remicade infusion. From what I've read and the experiences of other fellows, Remicade or any other biologic brings back your life. It's enough that it puts you into remission and that, in turn, can let you start a new career and have a family. I wish they had discovered my Crohn's 9 years ago instead of having wasted my twenties and thirties in agony but it's all destined.
Concerning the fact that you've got strictures, you have to start right away being put on a biologic. Mild meds are for mild cases. Having a stricture necessitates targetting it. Out of stories, biologics including Remicade are very effective with strictures.
As for the side effects, no one can deny them but they are very minimal in comparison to the benefit biologics bring about. The percentage of lymphomas and cancer is very small.
Take care :)
