Hello Forum members:

While waiting for Entyvio to kick in (9th week since I started), my GI has me on 40mg Prednisone.

Today is day 8 and I haven't seen any relief in diarrhea, bloating, abdominal pain (prolonged 'flare').

Can you please share your experience with Prednisone in these situations? Should I expect incremental improvements anytime soon (GI says to stick with 40mg through the second week)?

Please advise and share how you navigated this phase.

Thanks!!

I think you should ask for a stool sample and make sure you don't have salmonella or c. diff. or something.

If you've been on 40mg for 8 days with no tapering, I think the prednisone should have lessened your symptoms by now. Scifigal2k's suggestion to look for another cause for not improving is a good one - an underlying infection while on corticosteroids can get worse instead of better.

Generally, I would have expected to see some improvement by now, definitely by two weeks in.

One suggestions is to keep a symptom journal to more accurately track symptoms day to day. This would give you a clearer idea of progress (or lack of) you're making. If your symptoms don't get better on Entyvio + 40mg pred, there's likely something additional going on, so I also agree with scifigal's suggestion.
