Hello All,

I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease Aug 2015. I have failed on remicade shortly after taking the loading doses and am currently on entyvio every 8 weeks. I also have a temporary ileostomy to help heal my colon. I also have perianal issues and continue to get new fistulas and abscesses. I have had too many surgeries and setons to help with the relief.

Most recently, I have started seeing an increase in joint pain (knee, ankle, back) where it is hard to walk right now. Doctors are suggesting methotrexate but my wife and I are trying to start a family so we do it want Togo down that route as of now.

i am going to meet with a new gastro doctor as the end of April and am going to ask about Humira. Entyvio seems to not be working since my last colonoscopy showed inflammation, and it doesn't attack joints. Has anyone failed on remicade and entyvio, but had Humira work?

Any advice would be much appreciated!

In what sense did you fail Remicade after the loading doses? Is it that you had no improvement at all? Did you stop it right after the loading doses? Did you get your levels measured to make sure you were getting enough? Did you double the doses? With severe disease it's not unusual to need more time and often higher doses of Remicade for it to work.

On the other hand if you are indeed a primary non-responder to anti-TNFs, meaning they just don't work for you no matter how much you are given, then it's unlikely that Humira will work either.

How long have you been on Entyvio? It can take up to a few months (six months or so) to kick in fully.

I started to get swollen ankles and lupus like symptoms. My gastro doctor had tested for lupus and everything came back negative. I did get a test done to measure the remicade levels in my system and my body had built up antibodies within 2 months, which prompted the switch to entyvio. I have been on entyvio for about 15 months.

I developed antibodies to Remicade after a few months. Started with severe joint pain and then psoriasis/lupus symptoms. My gastro took me off and started me on Humira in February. No side effects as of yet! Goodluck!
