I don't know about from meat and poultry, but I got c. diff. for the first time about 6 months before I started having bloody D from Crohn's, so I had been on a ton of antibiotics. However, years before Crohn's was an issue, I had GERD so bad I developed strictures in my esophagus and had a rectal fissure that the PCP said was from being a college student eating too much pizza (even though I was never constipated). I also got parasites in the Dominican Republic about two years before all of this. So who knows - I feel like it's a bit of the chicken and the egg.
