I had an advancement flap procedure for a high fistula done 4 weeks ago. The wound from the initial abscess is slowly healing (started at 4.5cm deep, now 2.3cm deep) and still draining (was very minimal drainage for a week or so, though yesterday it drained a fair bit again and I still get a little bit of drainage from inside my anus, and very slightly incontinence - or tiny leak of fecal matter a few hours after a bowel movement)
However, ever since the surgery Ive been getting the odd day where I have a pretty nasty ache in my lower abdomen or rectum? It feels like it originates from the anus / rectum but when it happens also feels like its in the lower abdom? It builds up slightly but then hits around midday or afternoon and lasts for about 2-3 minutes. Then it subsides and is gone and I'm fine again for the rest of the day (though I feel weirdly strung out afterwards).
I have never been diagnosed with Chrons. I know that the flap procedure means they take some skin from inside the rectum wall and cut it, stretch it, and stitch it. I imagine that area takes AGES to heal but could it be the cause of these weird brief cramping episodes? I've read about muscles spasms in the rectum but could it also be the fistula still present somehow?
