Hi everyone!

I was diagnosed with mild crohns (I'm lucky, I know!) a few months ago, suspected it's been very mild my whole life and brushed off as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and IBS. I know the disease won't be totally controlled by diet, but I'm just feeling unsure where to go as far as daily meals. I have tried a few recommended diets, but I'm wondering if anyone could share some diet/food resources with me that have been helpful for you. The low FODMAP diet did not help (it actually made me worse, weirdly!), nor did gluten-free. I find that white bread, plain pasta, and plain bagels actually are all foods that help control my symptoms during a flare, but I need some more options as I definitely don't get enough nutrients when I stick to white bread/pasta for every meal. Thanks!

i think it sounds like a low residue diet may help you.

Did you just cut out gluten or try the Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)?
female, Canada

IVIG (on hold)

UC/Crohns - tested positive for MAP antibodies & mycobacterium
PG- remission
chronic perianal abscess and fistulas. Failed was pure torture.
started Stelara May 24, 2017. 100mg imuran

Hoping to start Anti-MAP drugs soon
Had a 10 week reprieve, now flaring...again. 4 years of flaring is tiresome.

Yeah, many people with Crohn's do best with a low-residue diet (google it for more info, if you're interested). Nutrients shouldn't be a major issue, provided you're eating meat, eggs, and a few other things as well. But if you're worried, experiment with different fruits and vegetables and different ways of cooking them. Veggies can be blended into soups or purees. Ditto fruits. Failing that, take a multivitamin table with your main meal every day.

You don't mention the SCD but that is something else you could look into. It's like gluten-free on steroids: it's gluten-free, grain-free, dairy-free and almost everything else-free. But if you're motivated, some people do get results from it. Once again, google it for more info.
Dx Crohn's in June 2000. (Yay skull)
Tried: 5-ASAs, azathioprine, 6MP, Remicade, methotrexate, Humira, diets.
1st surgery 20/2/13 - subtotal colectomy with end ileostomy.
2nd surgery 10/7/15 - ileorectal anastomosis. Stoma reversed and ileum connected to the rectum.
Current status: Chronic flare. Do I have any other kind?
Current meds: 50mg 6MP; Entyvio (started 3/11/16)
