Having my fist treatment as i type this. Been on Remecade for almost a year. Im finally in remission after 15 years but the joint pain and swelling were unbearable. Doc switched me to Entivio on my request. Is there any side effects i should be looking out for?

uhhh... joint pain and swelling, I believe, are the most common complaints of Entyvio. o.O

I've been on entyvio for a year. I had some joint pain initially but it let up eventually. I've never had swelling. I experience fatigue for a day or so afterwards, and it's not every time. I had a scope in June and showed no active disease for the first time since I was diagnosed 12 years ago.

Good luck.
Diagnosed w/Crohn's in 2005. Meds: synthroid, allergy meds, B-12 (liquid), probiotics, fish oil, turmeric, migraine meds prn, and vicodin prn. Gall bladder removed 8/15. Started Entyvio 8/5/16.

Have tried: sulfasalazine, asacol, entocort, imuran(allergic), humira, remicade (serious joint pain/fatigue stopped after 2 doses), 6MP, cimzia, pentasa, MTX & Arava for joint pain

Yeah, I know, girl, that's why I had to say something smart***y.
I'm on a fb group called Entyvio Warriors.
It seems like everybody and their mother is suffering from joint pain, except me!

I'm on Entyvio and I'm not suffering from joint pain. But I am suffering from uveitis something chronic. And every eye doc I've seen has told me the same thing: it's the Crohn's.

I mean, technically Entyvio shouldn't have any extra-intestinal effects, as - unlike Remicade - it's supposed only to bind with a certain type of molecule that targets the gut. It's more likely that the Crohn's is playing up in people's joints, rather than Entyvio directly causing joint pain. Joint pain is fairly common in IBD - about 1 in 5 people with IBD are estimated to develop arthritis: www.spondylitis.org/Enteropathic-Arthritis

Remicade is a more systemic drug, thus has greater potential for systemic side-effects, e.g. joint pain (perhaps from a Remicade-induced lupus-like syndrome).
Dx Crohn's in June 2000. (Yay skull)
Tried: 5-ASAs, azathioprine, 6MP, Remicade, methotrexate, Humira, diets.
1st surgery 20/2/13 - subtotal colectomy with end ileostomy.
2nd surgery 10/7/15 - ileorectal anastomosis. Stoma reversed and ileum connected to the rectum.
Current status: Chronic flare. Do I have any other kind?
Current meds: 50mg 6MP; Entyvio (started 3/11/16)

The joint pain you had on Remicade was probably due to you having antibodies to the drug. I had this many years ago and almost as soon as I was off of it, my joint pain went away. I've been on Entyvio for almost 2 years with excellent results and no apparent side effects. I will also say that since being on it my joint pain is almost none existent except for my hands and lower back where I have arthritis.

Good luck and I hope you get some relief.
