Hi gumby44, Just read about your experience when you ate out. Reminded me of what happened to my husband who does not have ibd and is very healthy. He started getting sick sometimes after we ate out but other times nothing. We finally figured out it happened when he ate salad. But he ate salad at home with no problem. He could even eat salads at certain restaurants with no problem. Finally discovered that sulfites were the culprit. Not all restaurants use lettuce that has the sulfite rinse but many do. Just a thought. Took us quite a while to figure that one out. Many people are sensitive to sulfites.

Thanks. I wish I knew for sure what it was. The food tasted great, but I have not desire to go back there, because I really don't know if it was the salad or an ingredient in one of the sauces, or what, so I don't know for sure what to avoid. I did talk to my GI who said two people can eat the identical food and one reacts with food poisoning and the other doesn't. I haven't been to any restaurant since then.....I have to get brave, avoid salad, but try again. Thanks for reaching out!
