I’m Reporting on action taken since my initial October 23rd, 2017 post.
I have 2 goals with this update: 1) Provide input to other Crohns/UC patients on this site who have or are considering natural / alternative methods for dealing with Crohns. 2) Obtain insight from others who have encountered similar situations and/or obtain feedback on the potential pitfalls of my current way forward with Crohns.
Positives thus far: My BM per day count has improved. In June 2017 11.5 BMs per day, now at 8.2 BM’s per day (almost a 30% improvement). It is still early however, I am now optimistic of continual improvement for my Crohns condition.
What changed: 1) Contracted with Bloomington MN Chiroprator “wellness” Dec 1, 2017 for xxx, coaching and care. 2) The recommended way forward I have implemented are: a) Detox diet – no liquor, coffee, dairy, grains including wheat – it is called “RepairVite Program”. b) Exercise program (15 minutes per day + walks) c) Initiated consuming a number of dietary suppliments (no drugs).
2 weeks ago, I started taking an enzyme called “Vital-Zymes Complete”. Within one day after daily BM count went down 10% and stayed down at that level - this is a HUGE game changer for me.
Other benefits: a) I am also cancer patient and as I understand it, this detox diet and program have positive impact regarding the recurrence of cancers I have had. B) In addition, I am resting / sleeping more soundly. At times I am only getting up for BM every 3 to 5 hours which is an improvement. C) My Chiro Doc believes in measurement to determine success or failure of his recommended therapies. One of the key stats is getting a comprehensive baseline blood test prior to starting my new dietary / wellness plan. I am happy to report within 1 month after starting the recommended detox diet plus suppliments, key inflammation, liver and other blood test markers were mostly in range (and were out of range one month prior).
Down side: 1) the Chiro services and suppliments are not covered by Insurance, thus, I am paying for the services and suppliments out of pocket.
Summary: I’m very happy with the progress on my new Wellness Detox / Exercise / Suppliment program started in December 2017. To implement, I’ve had to endure significant lifestyle modifications which I believe are better for me in the long run. The biologics (Humira, Remecade, Entyvio) and other drug therapies were not working for me and this new way forward appears to be effective.
Does anyone have feedback? All comments are welcome including any that include pitfalls I may encounter with my approach.
