Hi forum,

I'm gonna post this in the ulcerative colitis forum as well, and I'm waiting on my docs answer too, but I just came here for 2nd opinions or to hear from anyone with direct experience as well, I had two surgeries for a perineal abscess, the first time (July this year) I had the abscess removed and a seton drain put in, no muscle tissue cut, the 2nd (last week) I had muscle tissue cut, no seton, the doctor expects it to heal, my questions...

1) Right now, no bowel control, issues, but down the line will the muscle regenerate or will I have/did you have bowel control issues?

2) Does this type of thing lead to increased risk of colon or anal cancer? All my google searches of course say yes, but like I said, 2nd opinions.

Anyway, I'm sorry if this seems stupid asking here, but when your doctor is slow to reply, this forum sometimes seems like the only link, and lets be more honest, it's good to talk to real people, so thanks as always to anyone who replies.

Hi June,
Best wishes for a successul outcome.
My contribution from what I've gathered during discussions with my CRS.
1) If you have no issues then none should be expected.
2) A non-treated anala fistula can lead to very-very small (statistically insignificant according to my CRS) risk for cancer.
