My surgeon prescribed Lomotil for relentless diarrhea. It was never available here before, guess it is now. I went to fill the RX and found out it is a controlled drug and they have to special order it in? I also found out it is an opiate like drug? Not sure I want to start with it? Anyone here on lomotil? Is it an addictive drug? I never did well on Imodium, I would get stomach pain from it? Can Lomotil cause stomach pain as well, does it cause constipation?

Dorri, I was on it for several years. It was the only thing that helped with the horrible diarrhea. It also helps relax the stomach & intestines from spasms. It has different ingredients than Imodium so you should be fine. When I finally stopped using it daily I did not have any issues either.

Here's info on Lomotil:
Yes it is a narcotic, but if you take it as needed you should be fine. Of course it will cause constipation if you use it too much. You may have to play with what dose works best. You need to get the D to stop and gain weight. I think you should try it

Thank you all. I pick up my RX tomorrow. Thank you for the web site. Doctor told me to take 4 a day, but think I will start with 2 a day and see how I do and then increase it. I think if it helped without causing me further pain and less runs to the washroom, I would be in tears, that is how much I want a break.
