Hello world. I'm new to this forum so bear with me.my father passed from c/d in 2007. I was diagnosed in 2012. I have perianal Abcess with fistulas. Also resection surgery Dec2017. Crohns iletis w/ileosigmoid fistula repair. Extensive adhesions. On remicade now. Hoping Abcess. Closes and heals. Having numbness in fingertips. Can it be from the remicade. Thx in advance for input

I have been on Remicade for 3 years. The numbness in my fingers comes from low B12 levels. Have you had this checked?

I will check with doctor to have b12 levels checked. Did you have any other side effects and is it working. My doctor just raised my dosage to 10mg every 6wks. Thx

Swan, after my resection I had some absorption issues & ended up B12 injections. This is not uncommon at all. I was on Remicade for 31/2 years & did really well. It also healed a small fistula & several others here had the same success. I had my infusions every 4 weeks Like you, my dr had to increase the dose. It really needs to be tailored to the person's needs. Usually the day of the infusion I was a little tired. It can be a little scary when starting the bio's, but try not to stress or worry. I was at my healthiest while on. I know it says it can possibly lower the immune system, but it did not lower mine. I actually did not have as many infections, it was doing it's job for sure.

Take care.

Did they consider draining the abscess? Depending on where it is, it's common to insert a drain line for a week or so, so that it can heal from the inside out. You should at least inquire about this.

Just remember, everyone is different. With that being said, I have seen a big improvement in my symptoms. The only side effect I have noticed is that I am super tired the rest of the day after the infusion. My B12 is Pernicious Amemia, not being able to absorb B12. I take B12 shots every month. Other than that, no problems. Good luck.

My perianal Abcess was drained and seton placement put in to continue draining. Dr hopes remicade will help with closing of Abcess. Horseshoe fistula was treated and cut to stop progression. Also had 6cm structure removed (terminal ileum. Ileocical valve. Cecum removed. W/abdominal fistula repair. Dr hopes remicade will keep Crohns in remission. Has anyone had similar issues with help from remicade. Has anyone had any other vitamin definices besides b12.

Diagnosed w/CD in 2012. Fistulazing Crohns disease. Meds 10mg remicade every 6 wks. 50 mg mercaptapourine daily
