The ENT would ask your symptom history, then probably do a rhinoscopy (nose equivalent of a colonoscopy, where the doc sticks a little fiber optic camera inside your nasal passages and looks around. The ENT would probably also order a sinus CT scan (depending on your symptoms and what they see with the scope).
If you've had lots of problems with congestion and/pr colored drainage for a long period of time, you could maybe get a primary care doctor to order the sinus CT scan before you see the ENT. That will help the ENT in their evaluation of you.
