Paul, I am glad to read that you will be having a consult with the surgeon. It's not uncommon to have some anxiety dealing with this disease. The years I was at my worst, I had terrible anxiety & was put on meds. My anxiety was related to food.I had such uncontrolled diarrhea that I got trapped into thinking if I didn't eat or drink anything I could control it. That was very unhealthy thinking.
You went for what, 10 years & didn't have a scope, was that out of fear of perhaps thinking you had gotten worse? Most of the folks that I've read about
here dealing with strictures have a lot of pain & nausea & vomiting associated with it. Some don't go to ER for financial reasons, deductible not met or they go & spend a few days in the hospital on bowel rest. The 2 nights you are talking about
really doesn't sound like a stricture problem, but I'm not a dr either.
Keep in mind Zofran has great potential for causing constipation. If you have issues with that, this would not be a good choice for you. Phenergran is sedating so you can only take it when you are home for the day. What have you tried OTC? I use a lot of Pepto & Emitrol (?), I try to catch it before it gets bad. Sometimes I will suck on a piece of peppermint or drink peppermint tea. If you haven't tried any of these, you may want to consider it. My dr tells me to use the Zofran as sparingly as possible. Yes, I had a resection & on Imuran. There is no way I would ever risk not being on medication. This disease is just too sneaky & can be doing it's dirty work & causing too much damage.
