So I've been on Remicade now for maybe just over a year. So far, so good. A couple of months ago I had a low white blood count and my G.I. doctor brought me in to "check it again" because he said he didn't love the lab that my rheumatologist uses (I get my infusions at a rheumatology office). My blood work came back fine with the second check. My most recent blood work came back again with a low white blood count. My G.I. said he was sending me to a hematologist. I thought, "ok that's fine, I need to go to a blood doctor for my messed up blood count, I get it". I called to make an appointment and it's an oncology office. Is that just where hematologists live? Should I be concerned? I know lymphoma is a risk with Remicade and I know worrying doesn't fix anything, but I'm a little concerned. Is this cause for concern? Assuming I otherwise don't have lymphoma, what is the general course of conduct for a low white blood count while on Remicade?
Thanks for any help.
