A little over two weeks ago I had a fever. It spiked at 103 and slowly went down everyday for the next few days. It would always rise a little in the evening, but each day and night the fever would be less than the day/night before. I thought it was a virus and was confident I would be better soon. But it was strange that fever was the only symptom. However last night my fever got up to 101. And now it's almost normal. (I know, good grief. Right?) And I fully expect it to go back up this evening to at least 100.
I was due for my Remicade infusion, so I contacted my GI to see what to do. She told me to go to my general physician to figure out where the infection is (which was frustrating as they wouldn't let me come in for her to do any kind of exam or order labs). She won't let me get the infusion until I'm 48 hours fever free. I went to the GP and had labs and urinalysis done...... Sightly elevated SED rate and a little bit of bacteria in the urine....Now I'm in the middle of a week's worth of Bactrim and still have a fever.
So it's been two weeks and I still have a low grade fever with no end in sight. And I'm a week overdue for my infusion. (My CD is super sensitive to the timing of my infusions.) And now I'm freaking out and imagining the worst. (Do I have another abscess? Another fistula? Something that's nothing, but my GI won't ok the infusion?)
I searched past posts, but I was hoping someone had words of wisdom for me that's a little more recent.
PS--I don't have much of an appetite, especially when the fever is high. I've been existing on Ensure, Gatorade, and soup.
