I read on this forum that lidocaine helps with the rectal swellings and splits and itching of peri-anal crohn's?. Is this stuff sold OTC? I went to Wal-Mart pharmacy today and asked for it, and she seemed hesitant as to what I wanted? She lead me to the ointment department and pulled out Lanacane, well when I got home, reading the fine print, I don't think the two are related? What form does lidocaine come in? Where can I buy it?

I have a tube of it for my fissures and it helps a lot. My gi dr had to write a prescription for it. You can also get it with a healing agent. That numbs it and heals it.

I figured it was a prescription? I have to visit the GI in little over a week so will ask him for it. Think I would prefer the ointment, my aim will be better than the spray, LoL Is it expensive?

Dorri, my husband had to use it because of an abscess. I used GoodRx coupon since I was paying cash. There is a free app you can download on your phone & it saves a lot of money. I use it all the time. Good luck.
