Hi all,

Having some issues with my Humira injections. The fluid seems to stay underneath my skin...like I can push or squeeze the skin on my abdomen and feel it still there. I injected like 14 hours ago. This seems not good--am I injecting incorrectly?

Humira's website has an excellent video on how to inject. I never got the courage up to inject my stomach. I've had injections in my stomach in the past that created that fear, lol. I injected my thighs without a problem. Once in a while I would get a little knot that went away. The website states not to squeeze the injection site. If you weren't getting the medication you would be having issues is my thinking.

Take care.

Yeah I was a thigh-only for a long time, but I started running so much that the fat on top of my leg is basically zero and it got really difficult to find a soft place on the top, because if you're injecting into the muscle it can really hurt.

Thats fine because its "Sub-cutaneous' which means it goes under your skin and gets drained through the lymphatic system which is kind of like veins but for fluids in the skin. If the liquid is sitting there for a little bit that's okay but like you said you feel like its sitting there for too long. Thoughts: you may be injecting into scar tissue/stretch mark, with limited to no lymphatics and its not draining right. Or maybe the needle isn't going far enough in.

Next time, make sure you find a place with no scars/stretch marks. pinch a nice bit of skin, and press the injector against the fat/skin a little harder. Hold for the 10 seconds. IF you feel like your doing all of that, and its still there then maybe its just okay. As long as it drains eventually.

Alternitivly, make sure you're not mistaking the fluid for a "wheel and flair" allergic reaction to the medication.

Hope this helps!
