I'm pissed. I'll skip the history and go right to the issue. I reluctantly had surgery about
3 weeks ago for an abscess drain and seton placement. After 2 weeks the knot in the seton popped while wiping. It was on a Saturday so no doc visit possible. I managed to tape the loose ends together with a bandaid and it held through the weekend. On Monday, my doc fit me in and saw me. She "stiched" the seton back together, while cutting out a significant amount of extra rubber band which I had specifically asked for and we had discussed prior to the surgery. After she "fixed" it, she told me she made it tighter. When I get home I'm fiddling around down there and none of the slack that had previously been there existed. She had to remove like 2 inches of rubber band as the seton was tight against my skin and even a bit uncomfortable but totally liveable. I decided I would have to lose a bunch of weight to get some slack back in the seton. Two days ago and less than a week later (and 5 lost pounds!), I'm soaking in the tub and I reach down just to see what's what and the knots are out and the seton is out of the tract and hanging from my ass. I pull it out and it's now on my nightstand (yes I cleaned it) with a bunch of stiches that came out. So, now I'm pretty sure I will have to have surgery again to place another seton. I have a call in to my surgeon and my gastro doc and I'm about
ready to call a lawyer because this just should not have happened. Ok. Mostly venting, but has anyone else experienced anything like this? My first setons stayed in for a year until I had two of them cut out and one eventually fell out on its own. My ass must look like swiss cheese this point.
