I am assuming without seeing a dr....What do you do for it...what shampoo and soaps or creams, or what do you use that does not make it worse. I know the cold and dry air is not helping. I read that it is a pretty common thing with crohns, and my skin has always been horribly sensitive.

There are several OTC creams you can try, however, I had no luck with them. Mine first started on my hands & feet & took off from there. I was referred to a dermatologist & had 4 different types going on at the same time. Determining which type you have is the key to the correct treatment.

In the winter I keep my showers a little shorter & I do not use real hot water. One of my big triggers for an outbreak is stress.

I would recommend seeing a dermatologist. They can give you prescription strength cream that will help. I stay out of the cold, use a humidifier in the house, make sure my vitamin D is where its supposed to be by taking supplements and sitting in the sunshine. (Sun makes it worse for some people) I also take lukewarm showers every 2 or 3 days. Daily showers are a no-no for me. I also use soaps/laundry detergent for sensitive skin and I set the washer for an additional rinse. Lotion...depending on what type you have the dermatologist will recommend a lotion. For me...we had to resort to coconut oil. Everything else made it worse. And finally we had to add prescription methotrexate to control mine. 4 (2.5 mg) tablets once a week during the winter-3 tablets during the summer. I get my blood checked every 12 weeks to make sure the methotrexate isn't causing liver issues.

I hope this helps and that you feel better soon.
