My Daughter was given a letter at her infusion center today explaining that due to the pandemic, there may be supply issues upcoming with Remicade. As a result, they would have to resort to using a bio-similar.
Anyone else experience this? Just wondering if it's a concern whether the effectiveness would match up.

Inflectra is the biosimilator to Remicade. When it was approved a lot of insurance company's made patients switch because it is cheaper & works pretty much the same way. Here in the states it's being used a lot. She should do fine if they end up having shipping problems getting it to Canada.
Take care.

I am in the US. I haven't heard anything about
a shortage of Remicade...and I have asked several times. My next infusion isn't for another 4 weeks though.
Perhaps that was just to let you know that in an emergency situation that may happen. Did you talk to her GI about
it?

Thanks for the replies all,
Haven't spoken to her GI as of yet, sort of taking a wait and see. Should have mentioned that we're in Canada.
