It looks like I might be moving up to Maine. I was just wondering if anyone on here is from that area and could recommend an awsome GI doctor up that way.

Hi Bucko, it's been a while since you've posted. How are you doing these days? This forum is super slow, so I don't know if you will get a response or not. My guess would be to look for an IBD specialist in the area you will be moving too. It's always tough looking for new drs, ugh.

Take care.

Straydog...I've been doing pretty good sine my remicade infussions have been moved from every 6 weeks to every 4 weeks. My crohns is in remission however I have begun to develope antibodies to remicade. And my lupus is mostly under control. I want to keep it this way so I've begun searching for a good ibd-gi dr.

I lived in Maine for 3 years. Are you moving to Portland area? Another big city is Bangor. I would imagine there are probably more doctors to choose from in the Portland area. It is cold up there and winter heating bills can be quite high.

Bucko, I looked up the city, very small town, less than 7500 people, appears to have a small hospital. As Paul pointed out, it is very cold up there. I did not look to see what the largest city would be close by. Unless there was a large city close by, personally I would take a pass on this place because of the dr & hospital situation, not to mention the very cold winters.

Not sure what the driving force is behind your move, but I would be looking for some place with some better options.

Caribou, Maine is really in the middle of nowhere. If you think you need a lot of medical services in the future, Caribou probably is not a good option.
