Has anyone had any experiences with UHC and HUMIRA. Right now Im trying to get it through a company out of pittsburg called pharacare. The process with them just seems to be taking forever.

I have UHC and I really like them. I have had a few issues, but nothing major. I have never been on Humira so I don't know if I can help you. I am a little confused, is UHC dragging there feet, or is pharacare not working w/ UHC. Have you put in a call to UHC? If the problem is with UHC maybe your doctor needs to send a detailed explaination as to why you need this treatment.... I'm new to this so if this advice is bad i'm sorry. At least it will bump you up and maybe someone else will respond.

Thanks for helping. Im new to having to use my health insurance, this year was the first time I'd been to a doctor othre than regular imunizations and physicals for school etc. They are both kinda farting around. I contactted UHC and they said becuae of htte type of medication I could only get it trough pharmacare. so I ccalled and set up a account with pharmacare and had the perscription faxed over. everytime I call te they say to call UHC etc. Just kinda worried with the cost of the medication tht something will get screwed up.

I have UHC and I am using Humira and didn't have any major problems. It did have to be pre-authorized before I started using it and I got a little bit of a run around with my doc and UHC, each was saying the other hadn't done what they were supposed to. I have a Health Savings Plan and had met my $2,200 deductible already so Humira costs me nothing at this point until January and my deductible starts all over again. Good luck with it. MB

If you keep getting the run around for both as for supervisors (or the next in command) so that you get straight answers. When pharmacare tells you to call UHC ask them exactly WHAT you are suppose to be asking them about. It sounds like UHC is prepared to pay for treatment if they have told you to contact pharmacare. Maybe pharmacare isn't doing what they need to do. I hope that you get some help soon.

With your UHC did you have coverage for percriptions as well. Or is HUMIRA taken out of the $2500 max out of pocket?

Everything goes towards the $2,200 deductible - RX, office visits, hospital - it doesn't take long to meet.  The first couple of months are tough on your wallet but after that it is nice having no co-pay.  The premium is quite a bit less than a co-pay plan also.

I have UHC as my health insurance company but just as the controller. I think my company pays for all insurance items. It has been wonderful though. My last two hospitalization were both over 50,000 and I only had to pay $80.00 and that was just the difference between a private and semi-private rooms. I don't know what I would do without it but I do know that now I'm stuck having to work even though I have enough time to retire because I can't afford to lose my insurance. Well, at least I'm still young enough even though I sure would like to stay at home everyday.
