http://www.cnn.com/2007/HEALTH/08/16/ep.fire.your.doc/index.html

Thought this was an interesting article about when you should fire a doctor, thought you would enjoy.  Seems many of us have suffered with similar situations.

Thanks Nanners.........

I have fired a few doc's ..........

One Doc had me on Vancomycin IV for months at a time for the Pyoderma Gangrenosum..........
There is a WARNING that Doctor's are well aware of regarding damaging Hearing and Nerves in ears

I have 85% to 90 % hearing loss in my left ear and in my right ear 35%

Cait went with me to Hearing Doc and he said it was definitely from that medicine ....as have 2 other Doctor's

Lawsuit pending against his estate as he passed away almost a yr ago........

Great article ........thanks for sharing

Boy I would definetly sue that one too Lyn!!! This article really hit the nail on the head for me, my last GI who I fired, thought just because I had surgery I shouldn't be sick anymore and wasn't treating me. Just threw up his hands and said I don't know what to tell you. I left his office crying and immediately requested a new doctor.

that is GREAT advice...and well appreciated...looking back..I shouldve fired a number of doctors!!

my biggest complaint: they always look at my pain as NOT REAL or not as BAD as I make it out...I had to get with a pain management specialist last time to get help back in 05

my ENTIRE FAMILY gets on my nerves as bad as a doc...can I fire them?

This just convinces me even more that it's time to fire my doc. Gonna do it. I'll start looking for a new one ASAP.

I had to fire a gi after a visit with him. He asked me how i was doing and i told him i didn't feel any better on the meds he put me on .His response was just keep doing what your doing and i'll see you in a month.Well that was the last straw with him i never went back .I went thru one more gi before i found one that helped me out. So sometimes it may take going to a few doctors before finding the right one.

I had a resection and DXd with CD. When I was discharged from them the hospital the DR gave me Asacol which never reached where the resection was. Appearantly it disolves before reaching there.

I learned all those when I went for a 2nd opinion & was put on Pentasa in its place.

This is a very interesting topic. If I am not feeling well or have a problem, I call my Gastro Doc's office if it doesn't get better after a few days. The doctor will not talk to a patient on the phone. "That's what I have nurses for." I leave a message, the nurse calls back in a couple of hours or the next day. If I have a question based on what the nurse tells me, I have to wait a couple hours or until the next day so she can ask the doc & call me back."

What do you guys think of this situation? Are any of your doctor's offices like this?
