Hello,

I'm actually a UCer but I was just wondering whether anyone with CD has a food intolerance to red meat and if so how does it affect them?

Thanks,

I can have red meat but very little per week or my belly will act up. At my old GIs office one of the other GIs there had a list of foods that are common in causing IBD symptoms and red meat was in the top 5 listed

what is it about red meat that causes the problem. Is it the fat content? what about meats that are low fat?

Red meat is very hard to digest. It has to almost literally rot to break down in your system and pass. Since I had some partial obstructions in Feb 2007 I have stopped eating red meat completely. I sure do miss it though.
