I was recently started on Entocort and had an allergic reaction - bad vision, tongue tingling, sweating. Now my GI wants me to go on prednisone for 8 weeks, starting at 40 mg a day and tapering off. I'm worried that I will have a reaction to this as well, plus I'm just real concerned about the length of time he wants me on it. I am traveling out of state during the week after being done with the series and don't want to end up with withdrawal while I'm gone. Does anyone have any words of wisdom about their mid-length use of prednisone or about withdrawal symptoms - what they were or how long they lasted?

I doubt you will have too much problem with the Pred. I think most folks handle the Pred pretty well. You won't have withdrawals because you will slowly wean down. What you might have is some brief joint pain as you wean and maybe a day or two of D. Sometimes if as you wean you find your self flaring again, its best to go back up for a few days to your previous dose and try a slower taper. Good Luck!

Hi Chana Eight weeks does not seem very long but if you have problems weaning your Dr. will probably adjust your dodeage. I have been on it since Jan. so to me 8 weeks sounds good .I have had it upped and downed a few times but not more then 40 and it has been 20 or less for quite awhile. I hope it works great for you .lol gail
