I Don't want to sound to disgusting but, what is the average time it take for found to pass with most people. Today I had lunch at about 130 2ish. And Something I ate came through un-digested about 4 hours later. Is this normal, normal for a crohn's?

It varies for me, it seems I have more BMs in the am however yesterday I went 2 times in the am (one before eating the other after eating, then 2 more after dinner. Sometimes I can ID what came out cuz it looks the same as it went in.

Hi Final Ued to be 3or 4 hours sometimes, when I was dx with IBS, but since I been on meds it takes longer and found this interesting that the other CDer's have had that undigested food coming out too but I am still eating low roughage diet alyhough I might try a thing or two this week of some foods I haven't eaten in awhile. lol gail

It actually varies from person to person, but generally in all actuality whatever you eat today will be completely out in 3 days which is what I've been told by my GI's, colon and rectom surgeon and family doctors....like I said though it varies from person to person to some degree, especially for those of us with bowel issues.

I have found that on average "whatever goes in, comes out" in around 10-14 hours.

Hey,

I agree that this must vary from person to person, but I think the totally rapid emptying of the gut is a Crohn's related thing...my food used to always take 12 hours or so to move through (and I've read this is kind of an average), but when I'm flaring I can pass undigested stuff as quickly as 15 minutes after eating it...so...I think how fast food passes is a combination of personal history/characteristics and disease activity...and what you eat can probably also factor in (different foods moving through at different rates).

I also think it depends on whether or not you have strictures. For me things go through much slower now then when I was first diagnosed. used to be as little as 15 minutes.....now it can take days.
