Has anyone been on 9 mg a day of entocort and then gone back on prednisone right away. Or did you have to wean off of the entocort first?

Thanks

My daughter was on entocort for a short time, years ago, and she went right back on prednisone. I think every doctor is different.

I am sure you can just jump from one to another. I did it the other way from Prednisone to Entocort.

I always do prednisone and entocort together and stay on my full (9mg) dose of entocort while weaning off of prednisone. Then after about 2 weeks I start to wean myself off of the entocort. I have recently gotten so that when I get down to 3mgs of entocort my symptoms start returning - URQ pain and D. I'm staying on 3mgs of entocort until I'm ready to go for my first Remicade treatment.

Theoretically, it should be easier to go from Entocort to Pred than vice versa, because Entocort is not a systemic drug.

However, going from pred to Entocort is a little trickier. Because pred is a systemic drug, affecting your entire body, so the whole body needs to be weaned off pred slowly, before going completely off pred and onto Entocort.
