Hi all,

I just called my work to inform them of Dr appts I have set up and to figure that into scheduling.  I called earlier this week and told them of my limitations, basically they told me since you cant do your old job and we are fully staffed we are sorry but you no longer have a job here.  I wonder in addition to unemployment would this be a wrongful action to take up with disability?

Thanks

I think I would definetly go speak to an atty about this. I am so sorry you have to add this to your overly full plate too. Boy that ticks me off. Definetly see an attorney, I think at least your first visit should be free and maybe whatever settlement you get he can just take his portion from that. Sending (((BIG HUGS))) your way.

God Bless

I was just reading over my "handbook" from work and it looks like they may have covered their butts with the whole possible job loss. Earlier this week I talked to the office manager she said to get a letter from my Dr I informed her that I was waiting for it to arrive and I would bring it by next week. I did tell her I could not lift anything over 20 pounds and no vacuuming and mopping the animal hospital, (vet assistants do a cross between janitorial type duties and intro to vet tech stuff). I informed her today after she informed me that they were fully staffed (which 2 days ago she never mentioned loss of my job) mainly due to my limitations. I informed her as of the 20th of September my Dr said no restrictions as far as work...she (the office manager at the animal hosp.) said I should find a job where I sit and answer phones.

I am going to have both my husband and father read over the sections about temp disability in my handbook...in the handbook it says that I must return the handbook upon termination, I need to bring them the office key anyway or I get to pay for the building to get new locks and keys for all employees...yeah thats in the handbook too.

I was searching online for reception type jobs (preferably in some medical field even if not veterinary), there were 2 classifieds that caught my attention. The first was a reception posistion at my old GIs office (they have 12 drs there). The other which I plan on emailing my resume tomorrow in hopes that the position has not been filled is a receptionist at my new GIs office (they have 8 GIs there). The job was posted 8/6/07 so its almost 3 weeks later, I can hope though hey if I go back on remicade they can wheel a pole in reception area or a pc to the remicade room lol.

well they say God gives you only what you can handle....I think my plate is toppling over

Make a complete copy of the book for your personal protection.

Just ask God to "direct your path" I promisse he will do only what is best for you leave it in his hands he has other plans for you job wise.

Hi That really sucks they should have to pay a settlement when they can you because of health issues. You could go into a course for med. secetary or some other course how you feeling about things? How long did it take you to get the course for what you were doing?Sounds like they need help in those DR. offices though. Sometimes a new goal in life is a good thing. lol gail
