Matthew, the best source I know of is the Yahoo group on kidney stones, appropriately named kidney-stones-group, in which a urologist, Dr. Leslie, regularly participates. He also has a web site at http://www.drleslie.org/. He co-wrote a book, mentioned on the web site, which is rather poorly written but contains useful information on stones.

What's special about Dr. Leslie is that he understands that patients experience a variety of stone types for a variety of reasons. So, his approach targets the problem more specifically than that of some, less knowledgeable physicians. That said, he's not the world's greatest expert or anything of that sort. He's merely a good physician who knows his stuff and graciously shares his time with patients. The great majority of urologists I've met know considerably less about stone prevention than does Dr. Leslie.

Cheers,

I don't know if that is the site Wbisme mentioned or not. Anyway, what is the address?

Thanks,
Matthew

Diet not so much, oxalate stone formation in us crohnies usually is from improper absorption of minerals, esp. calcium in the small intestine.

Actually, I thought of the Rolling Stones. I'm illicit drug terminology illiterate. Then I thought of gallstones, which I have firsthand knowledge. But my husband is the "kidneystoner" of the family. He takes allopurinol for the uric acid. He also has a history of gout which is kept in check by this drug since it's the same stuff that crystalizes in the joints.

nono What a shamless bunch, the lot of you! LOL.

Well, just 36 hours to go, until the last stone is removed. I hope this Urocrit stuff I'm taking is effective. 5 straight summers of kidneystone attacks is enough for several lifetimes. I wouldn't wish this on Bin Laden if he were right in front of me. No one should suffer this kind of misery.

    Sincerely,

    Matthew

shame is a wasted emotion....let's all enjoy heaven on earth!

God "gave us the seed-bearing herbs to use" - quoted from some part in the bible, per Bob Marley and Cypress Hill

Haha...

as for kidney stones i heard those are extremely painful, good luck with that battle.

as for medicinal use, i did not know it is legal in Canada? is that countrywide or just in certain areas?

Hey James,

The new garden outside this house is a rock garden. Is this another of Life's little ironies? LOL.

Matthew
Keep that up & you will soon surpass me & be the Kidneystone King (AKA The King of Pain. Sting, if you only knew what I know!)
