Hello All...
I'm new to the forum. I just wanted to ask if anyone has found any kind of diet or natural medicine that has worked w/relieving any CD symptoms. I have heard of the Maker's Diet and am looking more into that. But what else is out there? Anything natural? I've been on Entocort and Cipro...But the side effects of the Entocort were pretty ridiculous. I am getting off that now and want to try something more natural.
If you know of anything, please do share.
Thanks much.

First I would like to say welcome to healing well. Second pb4 is the best person to answer this question. Hope that she comes around soon. Actually I had copied what she had told me awhile back here it is:
-bee propolis (purchased from puritans pride)
-omegas 3-6-9 (also purchased from puritans pride)
-Primadophilus Rueteri made by natures way
-Prodeim stool bulker with a mild laxative (recommended by my GI even when I told him I sometimes feel constipated, he assured me this would help for both C and D problems...he was right)
-I also take Vitamins B12, A and C-Calcium Ascorbate
and drink nothing but water and chamomile tea (another natural anti-inflamatory)

The only RX I ever use it cortifoam when CD affects my rectom (called proctitis) it's a foam enema not an oral RX.

hope this helps and maybe pb will be able to give you more information.

Hi,

In my opinion, the best diet out there is the Maker's Diet. It's tough to follow tho. Also, a strong digestive aid Probiotic is extremely helpful. I use Garden of Life Primal Defense.

If you try the diet for more than 30 days, you'll notice a worthwhile difference in your crohn's troubles. Best wishes.

well done momoftwoangels!!! :)

Besides the natural supplements that I use (as momoftwoangels posted above for you), I drink nothing but water and chamomile tea, eat a very healthy diet, no processed foods/beverages, fast-foods, caffeine, animal fats refined sugars...I use stevia instead of sugar, I use extra virgine olive oil instead of butter...I exercise regularly as well.

I'm able to eat all fruits and veggies with no problems thanks to the Prodiem fibre supplement my GI suggested to me (it's similar to Metamucil).

Warning about the bee propolis, if you're allergic to bees avoid it and any other bee products.

:)

Thank you all very much. I'll let you know how things go once I start the supplements you all recommended.

I strongly suggest you try one thing at a time to see what benefits you and what doesn't that way you're not wasting time and money taking things that don't help...although I do have to say, things like fish oils, fibre and probiotics will be a benefit to your system even if you don't notice major improvements with your CD symptoms right away...it can take time...I'd start with the probiotics first then add fibre supplements and slowly go from there.

:)
