Hiya. im going on holiday soon and it will involve going on a train for a couple of hours in morning, in the mornings i offend feel like i need the toilet alot. My question is do you think it would be ok to take a immodium tablet even tho i dont have diarrohoea as such but to to try and stop me needing the toilet alot during the morning? I am on 6mp and pentasa at the moment and have never had problems with constipation before.

I would call ur GI on that one. If you had D I may lean towards yes. Does the train have a bathroom? Maybe watch what you eat the night before (eat less than normal) this may help the urge

I am the immodium queen, now I am not going to say its totally ok with your situation, but I take it all the time even when I don't had D.  I went on a 6 hour plane trip and did not want to get stuck in that little bathroom for more than 2 minutes so yes I did take one.  I also take them before I go to work in the morning....... I am also on pentassa and was told by the pharmacist that it is ok to combine the two.   I feel that I do take them too much but I think if you take one before your train trip you will be fine!!  Good luck and have fun!!

I know my GI has recommended this to me, and I've done it before. I'm not a big Imodium user though, because sometimes it doesn't work at all for me and sometimes it works too well. I agree that a call to the GI is in order. I hope you enjoy your vacation.

I often do this when I go on long trips or when I start getting stomach aches before I go to work. Usually it works.

My doctor recommended immodium to me and I usually only have to take 1 every few days. If I get the gurgles and "d" three times in a row than I'll take that and some GasX and dicyclomine. Than I'm usually fine for several days. In fact I won't have a bm for at least 48 hours. But start feeling bloated by then. I jump back and forth between regular BM's and "D" every few days. I have found out if I eat a salad for lunch I'm pretty sure I'll be spending the afternoon in the bathroom.

I agree w/ the other posters. But if you are fairly regular as far as pooping in the AM you may want to get one poop out before you leave the house and then take the immodium. If I take the immodium before I poop at all I get crampy b/c my body is trying to get out the "regular" stuff rather than all the extra crohns stuff. So I poop once, then take it.

My doc recommended it to my at one point but every time I tried it I would get horrible cramps. Would rather have the D that those cramps!
