hello all, I went to my dr day and had an upper gi. He found i had swollen stomach and 3 ulcers. I have crohns in my small intestine. I was wondering if anyone also has ulcers. I don't have the heartburn just the terrible pain after eating so i thought it was the crohns.

My doctor found ulcers during the colonoscopy he did a week ago. I'm not sure if what you were asking was about having ulcers in the stomach though. I know that at least my doc was saying there are different causes for the ulcers. He wasn't sure exactly was causing mine though, since I wasn't taking any medications that he said could cause that. I also have pain after eating... well I have some pains a lot of the time which is why I'm doing a capsule endoscopy this week. What type of pains do you have after eating? What is your doctor saying you should do for the swollen stomach and ulcers? I hope you feel better soon! :-)

Thanks brit for your reply, I was wondering if ulcers was a lot more common in someone with crohns. The pains I have are a lot like The crohns pains. I do not have the heartburn, Just the crampinf after I eat and the cramping late at night which wakes me up. The dr is giving me nexium right now whick seems to help the cramping a little. He took abiopsy so I am waiting for the results.

I have had and ulcer and eroision from acid in my stomach. When I asked my GI if that was from the Crohn's he said they were not related. I don't know if there is something about my situation that would make him say that, but it is what I was told

Hi! I get ulcers in my stomach which my doctor attributes to my CD. I was on Prilosec OTC for a long time, and tried to stop taking it, only to have my stomach ulcers flare up. Now I take Nexium, and it keeps everything under good control for the most part. Take care.

According to my GI, ulcers and stomach acids are related to CD. Unable to take any of the medications (Aciphex, Nexium, etc.) I take apple cider vinegar & maple syrup (organic) mixed in water. It works for me !!
Good luck, and feel better. Stay away from fried and spicy food.

Hi. I was found to have 3 ulcers also, which the doc told me probably was from taking NSAIDS for B12 def problems. I have been on aciphex since Jan. The GI says this is better than most others for upper Gi ulcers. I do get heartburn when I forget to take it, but mostly when I was on pred. I've been off for 4 weeks now. But, wow, I just looked up the side effects of aciphex, and I am seriously thinking of coming off it. My neck has been killing me for several months and have been on lortab. I thought it was arthritis (and maybe it is) but none of those SE are worth it. And the doc gives me samples because the co-pay is $75.00/month.
Diagnosed at age 19 with CD.

I just came home from having an Upper GI endoscopy. They found 3 ulcers in my stomach and 1 in my duodenum. I have been suffering from extreme pain in my left abdomin just under my rib cage for a little over 2 years now and all my Docs to this point have all blamed it on my CD. Hosp in mid Dec 13 and scope showed remission so they started thinking the pain was more gastric. Seems they may have been right considering the findings today. Don't know if this is related CD but they do say CD affects the entire digestive tract, mouth to butt. Axious or my results, good luck on finding out yours as well.

I've had a fair amount of inflammation and ulceration in my stomach in recent years (confirmed via endoscopy and pill cam), which I assume is Crohn's related. I also developed GERD last year, so that hasn't helped. I'm pretty sure I made matters worse for myself with heavy use of NSAIDS in 2012 to deal with the daily headaches I got from exercising... I learned that lesson (even though my previous GI had said I could take NSAIDs without problems)!
