Hello...everyone!! i last posted a couple of weeks ago, trying to get some feedback on IMURAN. well...with the 3 options my doctor gave me, i have decided to go on the imuran and hope for the very best! today i went for my blood work so once the doctor looks at it (they should rcv the blood by friday) and everything is fine, then i will start it on monday. yep...d day is monday. so here is the scoop, i still stay on pentasa (500 mg 2-4x/day-100mg dicetel-1-3x/day and then......100mg of imuran which works out to taking 2(50mg) of imuran in the morning, same time every day. now....what i am having trouble with is the "fear of the unknown" all of you's were so wonderful with sharing your experiences with me on imuran and i have to say that there was alot more positive than negative but the big BUT.....is...i am so scared! i am scared because of all the side effects that you could get etc. i am allergic to being nauses and i am scared of that too! not to mention all the more possible serious side effects. i have been on pentasa for years....and i know it is time to change the meds for the better of the crohns. i am just worried and scared and i guess it's natural right? because all of you have always been there for me in times of need, i am asking if there is anything that could re-assure me it's going to be ok? i would love to hear all stories for the ones who didnt get to share theirs with me to re-assure me that it is going to be ok come monday when i start the imuran. wahhhhh! have any of you's felt sick when first starting it or were all of you's ok and didnt notice anything? please share and help me to get brave for monday. (i know they monitor me very closely with blood work etc. but its the other possible side effects such as joint pain, dizziness, sick etc. which are freaking me out!!!) thanks for listening and sorry for such a novel.

Hi Laura lee,
Well I have been on Imuran for over 2 years and I am doing fine with med. I have no-side effects
from the Imuran. For me I put up with all the blood test. My prayers are with you and hope the
Imuran helps you.

I tried Imuran a few years ago. Most of the initial side effects i.e. nausea and fatigue can be offset by taking it at bedtime instead of the morning. That way you sleep thru any side effects. I had to quit taking the Imuran because it didn't help me at the time and I ended up needing surgery anyway. Most people do fine on it, I wouldn't get yourself all worked up about
it. Just remember that it takes a little while to kick in. Good Luck!
