Does anyone take levsin. When I went to the er they gave me a perscrition for levsin. Tonight is the first night I felt I had to use it, my abdomin is so sore and there was so much cramping. It seemed to go away within 10 to 15 minutes. Is this from the med on in my head?

Glad you got relief. I have never had that medication. Maybe someone else will come along with some information. But I do fight myself often -- is this or that just in my head???? I am begining to learn that no it's not, that we have to trust that our bodies are telling us what is going on. Anyway, enough of my 'theory'.
Living with Crohns for 1 year. I have a wonderful husband and two beautiful little girls.
One blessing that came with my Crohns: I thank God for each day that I can get out of bed and take care of my girls and my home.

I take levsin and it has been a lifesaver. My doc gave it to me a couple months ago. On the days that I start getting really sharp pain in my abdomen I take it and it smoothes out your intestinal walls and makes them stop squeezing, contracting whatever. I love it. Glad you are finally getting some relief

I think that is the name brand of hyosciamine. I take it PRN and it really helps calm things down before I actually end up getting sick.

I have Levsin, Donnatal and Benytl. They all do about the same thing - calm things down. Yeah, if my intestines are acting up I take it to calm them down or sometimes I take it before I eat if I'm having problems. They work really well for me and it sounds like they are working well for you too.
Dx in 1984 with Crohn's Disease.  In 1988 my terminal Ileum was removed due to inflamation that caused it to rupture.  The disease seems under control, but I deal with scar tissue and adhesions which cause constant pain.

I have prescriptions for both Levsin and Bentyl. I tend to take Bentyl, or dicyclomine, more often because it works as good as Levsin, and I have zero side effects from it. When I take Levsin, I get a painfully dry mouth. They work wonders though, within 15 or 20 minutes, my cramping is gone.
Crohn's Disease for a year and counting
Imuran: 150mg
Remicade: Every 6 weeks 10mg/kg, next infusion: July 26th
Dicyclomine and hyoscamine for intestinal cramping and spasms <--This link will be changing, but for now it works!
