I am new to this forum and recently dx w/ CD in 7/07.  My first hospitalization was in 1/07 when they dx me w/ UC Pancolitis.  After another flare up in 7/07 they did additional testing and dx me w/ CD.  I have been on Prednisone the past two months and prior to that was on 1500 mg x 3 of Colazal, which did not appear to keep my CD in remission.  I am on my last week of Pred and I think things are turning back to normal. The doctor also put me on Imuran back in July after I had some tests to make sure I would be ok to take it.  I currently go for blood tests every two weeks to make sure my white blood count is ok, so far so good.

My question is other people's experience w/ Imuran, any side effects?

Reason is, since last week, I started developing grinding headaches and joint pain in my back, neck, knees and ankles, I had a low grade fever until Sunday when it hit 104 and I went to the ER.  They did all kinds of tests for meningitis, west nile virus, blood cultures and everything comes up roses.  They say it just must be a viral infection and it will work its way out.  I have questioned my GI several times to see if it is the Imuran and he states no??

Anyone ever have a similar experience.

Thank you.

On Imuran your immune system is suppressed. Could be because of your lowered immune system you caught a bug. Thats common with Imuran. I have taken Imuran before and my only side effects were nausea and fatigue. Sure hope you getting feeling better soon.

I got headaches when on pred. I also got them at first with entocort but my body seemed to get used to it and they stopped. I don't get headaches with Imuran now. Karen
