Thankfully I don't have any stories of my own to share regarding fistulas or abcesses (the anal skin tags are enough thanks LOL)

But here are some pics and info I found regarding both fistulas and abcesses....

ive had to deal with one myself.. it was a process because im on remicade and it is suppose to heal it from the inside out and it did just the opposite, it would close the outside and then heal. Toward the end of my cycle the last few weeks it started to inflame... the pain was unbearable, thats when i decided to go the seton way. It is a strong piece of string which is looped through the anus and the fistula and then tied. This is to keep a constant drain and prevent tenseness and swelling. Even though you must deal with the constant drain, In the end, this was all worth the procedures ive had..its been over a year now, and ive been 100 percent better. It will still inflame at times, but the seton is key in helping aide it to drain. I hope ive helped.

You may get lucky and be able to detain your fistula with only medicine, some people can. Best of luck!
